Boat Company Lovers is one of the largest canal cruise companies in Amsterdam and transports more than half a million tourists in one of her 22 ships. Innovation is one of the pillars of the business. Lovers introduced the Candlelight- and Dinner Cruise as well as the highly successful Hop On Hop Off Museum Line for the first time in the Netherlands.
In 2010 Lovers added another topattraction to its offering: The Floating Dutchman. This amphibious bus picks up transfer passengersfrom Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, drives to Science Centre Nemo where it splashes into the canals for a canal cruise.
Lovers also had a World premier in 2010 by launching the first zero-emission canal boat in Amsterdam, the Nemo H2. This boat was especially designed and build to be powered by a fuel cell and does not produce bad smells, noise or CO2. The ship is propelled by electricity generated by the fuel cell. Inside the fuel cell hydrogen and oxygen are mixed to create water and electricity. The electricity is used to power the ships propellers of the Nemo H2 in a silent, clean and sustainable way. The hydrogen that is used to power the boat is produced in a reliable way on the North Sea. The canal boat meets all European regulation for barges.
